Participant Waivers

We must have a waiver on file for EVERY participant - youth and adult - who attends a GTI 2023 Leadership Summit. All youth and Adult Advisors should be pre-registered and bring a completed waiver in order to be granted access to the venue. Youth waivers should be completed by their parent/legal guardian. No one will be permitted to attend without having a waiver! 

Arrival, Check-In & Logistics

The September 2023 GTI Leadership Summit will take place on Saturday, September 9, 2023 from 10 am – 4 pm at the John C. Maxwell Leadership Center (2050 Sugarloaf Circle, Duluth, GA 30097). Doors open at 8:45 am, and all participants should arrive no later than 9:45 am in order to get checked in prior to our start.

What to Expect

The day will kick off with some high-energy energizers, team-building activities and fun games before splitting the youth and adults up for Learning Labs. Youth may be split into smaller groups to attend two different Learning Lab sessions during the day, allowing them to engage in hands-on experiences with prevention strategies, teamwork and more. Adults will participate together in networking, team building, learning fundamentals of the Strategic Prevention Framework (SPF) and more. During Team Meetings, all participants will meet with the group they came with to brainstorm needs and generate ideas for how they’ll meet those needs. A preliminary Goal Statement will be developed prior to departure and teams will be equipped to continue their action planning upon returning home. The day will conclude with a share out of Goal Statements, reflection upon the day together and a fun send-off!

What the Summit Includes

Your registration includes breakfast snacks, water and coffee, lunch, afternoon snacks, a GTI nametag and other GTI swag & access to all sessions, resources and opportunities to win door prizes!

Who Can Attend

The GTI Leadership Summits are open to any team of middle or high school students and adults who work with them across Georgia who want to come together to learn prevention and leadership skills and plan a project to make a difference in their school or community. Students should be rising 7th - 12th graders who are not currently experiencing substance use or mental health issues and desire to make a difference in their community. Adults should be someone who works well with youth and is committed to working with the team on-site and when they return home to their community.
